(The Cabbagetown People) Explore Canada’s cultural heritage through its people of various backgrounds from one of Canada’s diverse neighbourhoods.We need look no further than our own neighbourhoods to celebrate the achievements of Canadians. A magician, a scientist, a ballerina are a few of the people from the Cabbagetown neighbourhood of Toronto who left their mark on Canadian culture.
Students will read about Doug Henning, Dr. Oronhyatekha, Albert (Frenchy) Bélanger, Sir Ernest MacMillan, Ben Wicks, Betty Oliphant and more and engage in exercises and activities to develop their French language skills.
